GeoKlima Observatory

The Observatory works to enhance knowledge and understanding about Sustainable Development, Sustainable practices and socio-environmental issues associated to Energy, Climate Change, Geopolitics, Biodiversity loss, Cryosphere, Adaptation and mitigation co-management strategies.
Education and Sustainable Development have an intrinsic, interdependent relationship with each other, largely because no sustainable society can operate without efficient and high quality education. Literate societies have the capacity for transmitting information to new generations as well as making better decisions based on previous experiences to anticipate potential risks and, consequently, design strategies for efficient solutions.

In a new era dominated by a new range of threats and priorities, it is fundamental to discuss the militarisation process in the high north and how climate change affects the maritime, infrastructure and defence systems dynamics, with particular emphasis on the security and geopolitical implications to societies, the security of northern territories, coastal communities, and maritime routes of Arctic states.
